Welcome

It’s a difficult thing, keeping a blog.

Oh, journalling, that’s simplicity itself. Open a window and let the thoughts pour out. But to have a blog, that implies dedication to a topic or subject, the formation and defense of opinions, and not only holding forth in one’s own space, but in others’ as well—networking. These endeavours are (she said with a delicate shudder) a lot like work.

However! I purpose here to write on my academic life, including the inevitable Dissertation Journey, and along the way, I hope I’ll post a few things that might be of interest even to those outside my own narrow specialty (science fiction, the awesomest specialty in the world for those of you playing along at home).

Upcoming in the next few days: the drafting of the fascinating comparison between Margaret Atwood and Sheri S. Tepper; the fraught search for a thesis topic; and perhaps some academic work I’ve been doing on the side, which has proved both fascinating and rewarding.

In the meantime, you can learn more about your humble blogger (topping the list: not that humble). Have a glance around, tap your mouse on the RSS feed button, and watch as the links list over there on your right grows over the next few days as I make the place shipshape and Bristol fashion. (More geographically accurately, Liverpool fashion, but we go where the homilies take us.) Above all, enjoy your stay as I head out into the world.

Had a quick look at your blog there is no doubt you wrote. Hope things are going well for you. I am so busy this year you wouldn’t believe it. I hope things slow down in a month or so. Take Care and keep on blogging. Don

I really like this blog. This one says much more interesting things. I love the opening to your essay and your thoughts about Tepper and Atwood. I wasn’t sure how to respond, but looks like this will work. Talk to you soon!
    Love, Mom
